consist in，consist of
在英语里，我们常会碰到这种现象，由于所用的介词不同，其语意也就变得大不相同。例如，consist in表示“在于…”之意；consist of则表示“包含”，“由…组成”之意。前者说明一样事物的性质，这种性质大都是抽象的、非物质的；后者则说明组成某一事物的部分，这些部分大都是具体的、物质的。例如：
